Emergency Management

In the event of an emergency or disaster affecting NDSU, the emergency management unit will help to coordinate response and recovery efforts in accordance with the University's Emergency Operations Plan.

Continuity of Operations

Continuity of Operations planning involves identifying important activities and creating a process to sustain those activities with as little disruption as possible. The main components of a Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) are:

  • Essential Functions
  • Key Personnel
  • Orders of Succession
  • Resources
  • Vital Records
  • Risk Assessment
  • Facilities and Alternate Locations
  • Technology Needs and Dependencies
  • Training and Exercise
Office Functions
  • Create and maintain Continuity of Operations Plans (COOPs) for University departments
  • Design and facilitate emergency exercises
  • Provide preparedness information to campus members
